Should You Buy A Home?
1. If you are renting, you already are buying a home. Just for someone else.
We have a saying in the real estate business, “Everyone is a homebuyer; they just may not know it”. The fact of the matter is that if you are renting a property, you are effectively helping your landlord buy that home since your rent is most likely paying off his or her mortgage.
2. Buying a real future.
Instead of renting, why not put that money you are using to rent towards building equity and a solid future for you and your family? A house is usually a person’s biggest single asset, and while property value is usually cyclical, history shows us that over time homes normally increase in value.
Buying a home also allows you to create an estate, one that you’ll be able to keep in your family for generations if you so choose. While, if you rent, all that money that you spent will effectively vanish and you won’t have anything to show for it.
3. Tax deductions: the government wants you to own a home.
With all the tax deductions available for homeowners, it is easy to see that the government wants you to purchase a home instead of renting. There are no catches or silly exceptions; these tax deductions are available to most homeowners who have a mortgage.
Sometimes, you can end up paying less for buying a home instead of renting due to these deductions. Contact us for more information on how this works.
4. A home to call your own.
It may seem like a small detail, but knowing that you have a home to call your own is something very special. The first moment you say “my home” or “our home” you will feel a glow of pride and confidence that you have made a sound choice to protect your family’s future.
You don’t get that feeling when you rent a home.
Also, in owning a home, it is truly yours. You don’t have to get approval to make improvements. Change the carpet if you’d like. Even take the carpet out and put in wood floors if that’s your style. There are no limits to personalizing your home.
You can’t do this when you rent a home.
5. Feeling of community.
In owning a home, you immediately become a member of your neighborhood. It is comforting to feel the support from your neighbors as you all work towards building and maintaining the community.
